I wasn't really around all that much but I'm glad to see
that there might be some work being done on DJ2! One
thing I'd really, really, REALLY love: The ability to
change the size of the map so that you can design your
maps at the printed scale (i.e., 1" = 1 grid square).
The restriction to an 8.5x11 design area can make for
some math headaches if you're trying to recreate a map
in DJ that is already at standard D&D scale.

You already can do that, The DJ workspace is 32" x 40"
Open a new workspace
Be sure the Page Setup is set to inches. It will say that the page is 8.5 x 11 but that is telling DJ what size paper is being used, not what the workspace is.

Then go to the upper left corner where it says CHANGE, click that until the ruler shows inches.

Go to Print and be sure that is set to 1 inch Grid size.

Then set the detail level to 1 and you should be all set.

I'm sure that it's already been requested but 2.0 really
must allow for usage of large amounts of memory. As it
is on Windows 10 the render settings allows me to set it
up to 2gb (out of the 24 that I have, heh) but then
crashes with a JavaVM error. It also appears that once
you start approaching too large a number of items in
your libraries it causes Java to crash out and will no
longer load which can be worked around by swapping items
in and out of your image folders but that's cumbersome).

As far as I know, which is limited, DJ was originally programmed to only use 1 MB, it will let you set higher amounts, but then it doesn't function right.

You need to reinstall the 1.0.7 version. ( The full
install not the upgrade ) If you have windows 8 you
should upgrade that to Win 10, if you have Win7 you
are all set.

Yea, been there done that, given up and moved on...

Just came by on a whim and am ecstatic to hear there may be development on a new version! I will man in charge the (censored) out of it. Still miss it terribly and do not have the nerve to go through all the hoops to get it barely running. So please keep working on it and and shout loudly once there is something new happening.

On Windows 10 it runs fine on my machine.

I installed it on Windows 10

There were a couple of tweaks I had to do.

I had to turn off UAC in order to install the
different art packs.

I also had to copy a dull over to the program library

Not a huge effort to get this to up and running.

I notice unhappily that this thread has been off the air since March. Is the 2.0 project still alive? Is there some kind of status at present?

Sorry the the silence Mark. I separated from the ex wife in March, moved away to my parents place in Eugene Oregon and closed my computer business. Since then I have remarried, got another job, and got my life back together.

I still have plans to move forward with the project but time constraints on me are many due to being recently remarried and now having 3 kids to worry about instead of just the one, etc. But at some point this year I want to get the project back on track. I am just not sure when this will happen.

Thanks for everyone's patience but the project is not dead.

Thanks, Daniel! Sorry that life's been hard, but it's good to hear that it's going again.

Any update? Also website is super bad... DB SQL errors all
the time. Reload, reload...

Someone - anyone - let me know when this gets going. I
will gladly kickstart the heck out of it.
