Starting with a texture from CgTextures, play about in Paint.net...

...and use the texture on a DAZ sphere...

..we eventually get a house like...

...or...

...or even get odd shapes like...

The idea was to have a pile of shapes which can stack on top of each other in a modular fashion...

Sample only ... do not download...

These ones are bigger than the 500k limit but should show the concept. If of interest will ZIP them into RpgMapshare once set completed.

Suggestions?

Some more variants, here as more specific sizes:
20x15'
20x10'
15x10'
The previous ones were done with no thoughts on sizing. The smaller ones have a flat version...

Just a contact sheet - do not download.

Will eventually create a giant set for Rpgmapshare, to include a few completed ones. Completed meaning
with pots, plants, washing lines, awnings and so on.

Have I missed any "required" adobe structures?

Hi Serendipitous,

Glad it's of interest. Once a basic set is made it should be easy enough to build more detailed variants like...

NOTE: Do Not Download! This is just a jpeg - The full size one will be linked to later.

I'm thinking of compound walls (as in the example above)and perhaps some alternative stairs...

very cool. I know some adobe houses had 'holes' in the ceiling with a ladder in it that would serve as the entrance to a floor as well as a vent for a fire pit within the room below. Maybe you could incorporate this idea into your pueblos?

Here's a link to an inspirational piece.

Thanks for the stimulus Serendipitous! So here we go....

The slate "floor" was by Bogie and may end up a water-trough too. Then felt I wanted it it to blend directly
with the Texture I've been using so...

Do not download (just a jpeg exampe)...

Which gives me some some things to ponder, like a version with a fire, plus a wee guy making the mud-bricks.

(I am thinking sci-fi type natives / alien types so won't be specifically doing
Pueblo / Sumer / Egyptian. Quite happy to rob bits from them all. )

A more rickety ladder might be handier or more realistic. The one I like above is
perhaps too well carpentered. Any suggestions anyone?

These holes with ladders could be used for a lot of different maps.

Can you post the ladder by itself?

Hi Bogie- here it is. Not by me, no name (another of the old CSUAC ones perhaps?).

If anyone recognises it please post credits, thanks...

I tried to make this look a bit more rustic.

Hi Bogie,

May I ask if that's a shimmer, water reflection or some similar tool you used?

You've pitched me in the right direction hopefully. I had been thinking of making one in DAZ but could not
face the "deformers" they use. The ones below are made in DAZ but then given then in Paint.net using the
"Bulge" tool. I've kept to the sketch where the rungs only go high enough and the tops of the ladder become bannisters.

Ok, the ladder should have pegs, nails or ropes holding it together, but hey in DAZ a time element
involved. At least a bit nearer nearer the stick-like Pueblo ladder from Serendipetous' link (and the
photos you see rumaging around old Pueblo photos).
.

The two above are evened out versions of the below, as people may like things less rickety/oddly shaped.

The offset top is intentional - ...see here for uneven ladder size...... which was new to me... ...another example...

Wow, PB! I love what you've done with it. I had a hard time imagining this texture set with a sci-fi narrative, but I'm pretty sure you had a different texture in mind. Or you were going the Firefly route. In either case, I fully endorse!

But Star Wars had ...Tatooine houses here... and ...here.... The texture was the first one on CgTextures that I liked.

As you mention Firefly, the British Empire equivalent, the books by Toby Frost Space Captain Smith..., have a similar futuristic-Victorian-era theme. Both have the same sense of humor!

Rope ladder variant, may be of use for folks using Bogies fab slate floor set:

...And another experiment. This time using fences as balconies.

Do not download. This is just a jpeg. The full size one will be on rpgmapshare.

I hate to admit it but I don't remember what I used. I was trying lots of different filters and CRS. I know I had a pointer and pushed and pulled the distortions.

Wow. Simply Wow.

Of course, throw in a few appropriately techno bits and you've just got your Mos Eisley construction set.

EDIT: Should have known that PB would have already called it...
