Hi folks......

....Every 'classic dungeon' has to start somewhere...so here
is my first map, I am going to do a small set of maps &
will post them as I go along....

Intro:

The PCs have found the entrance to the dungeon...it took
them 3-days searching through the woodlands & swamps,
& many random monster encounters later, but hey...their
finally here. Unfortunately, they have already exhausted
their meagre rations....but Ronnie the magic-user has a
plan....he is going to teleport back to town, grab some
extra food and teleport back....unfortunately, Ronnie did
not know about the special magical defence that encircles
the dungeon....he ends up 10-miles away from the PCs on
his return trip......

....2-days later, Ronnie turns up, just in time it seems,
as the PCs were wondering if the Dwarf would make an excellent
spit-roast.....

Time to enter the dungeons depths....Ronnie is going to find out soon
that teleport is not the only spell affected by the dungeons
defences....but hey...it is a 'classic dungeon'...

Awesome and creepy

Some of the effect are perhaps too subtle to show exactly what we see. After looking at it for two minutes I see a cave (blue shadow) filled with low water (floating leaves and stuff). The light parts are outside the cave. And some creepy spider-like creature is lurking from the ceiling.

Is that right?

Hmmmm....perhaps I went a bit tooooo far with my effects..
...lol....

Maybe this map may help to set the seen better....the
entrance to the dungeon is through a cave entrance (bottom right)
marked by the glowing eyes of a demons head...

....the map is outdoors, and is meant to be a dark creepy
wood...very damp and swampy...so I have put a bit of low-lying
mist....any better Kep?

Ah ... yes, much better. Think you cut too much away in the first preview

Say, did you build in a hypnotic effect? I keep scrolling back to look at it again

Well here we are...Level 1...

Being a 'Classic Dungeon'....These are some of the highlights:

The first set of doors (glowing red in the map) cannot be
opened by force or any spell.....They will only open for
the magic password........'Open'

One of the rooms contains a rug-weaver...he is infact a
shape-shifting vampire....(if the PCs fall for that...deduct
10,000 xps)

A room which causes temporary insanity, making anyone
caught here to immediately throw what they are holding into
one of the three holes in the room....these destroy all items
even magic....(Suckers)

The magic chalice and the pool....don't bother, the chalice
is an illusion and the pool is filled with things that bite....

The giant statue on the throne....yep, you guessed it...
Giant Stone Golem!!!!.....runaway!!!!

The secret trapdoor to the next level....honestly, its there
somewhere?

(My favorite) the spear-trap activated by opening a door
.....you just can't beat a classic trap....and they always
fall for it?

Well I thought the first map was just fine I noticed the entrance before anything else. And the first lvl is great. I really like the floor it gives a good a feeling. Kinda reminds me of FFXII the ruins in the mist near the end of the game.

It is terrible that ae didn't have anything nice to say..

Phenomenal map, Just enough detail in the room descriptions to help someone use it in a game to!

Fantastic floors, so realistic it hurts. Did you use 1 layer of flagstone covers, or is it flagstones with shadow/crack texture covers over them?

Great job Cisti, I see I'll really have to step up with my map entry.

Where did you get this cool smilie?

And don't forget kazerath, as a former contest winner we expect an entry from you as well. Cisti's map is great, but he needs some competition to keep him honest. I'll be posting mine over the holidays, hope to see yours too.

Well every 'Classic Dungeon' needs a campaign map....

...have not ever done one of these..so this is my take on it...
The area is fens, marsh and wet woodlands, with the only
dry land being the road and rocky outcrops....

One of the PCs is a paladin come to visit his bretheren
in an enclave on one of the hills (top right)...they have
been having a spot of bother from the locals of late...
but when the PCs arrive no one is to be seen...in fact
the paladin enclave is in ruins....could they be at that
ominous looking castle?.....or in the deserted village?...
nah.....they are in my 'classic dungeon' the entrance to
which is hidden in that swamp.....just down that road
to nowhere....

WARNING.....TPK ALERT.....

Level 2....a cram-packed slash-fest....

The highlights:

Corridors that go nowhere....classic!!!

The chest in the middle of the room....yep...its a chest-trap
(they always fall for that one as well)...in fact there
are 2 chest-traps....just in case they feel lucky..

There are infact 12 traps & 5 concealed doors....just
to keep the PCs occupied...

2....yes....2 super baddies....both sorcerers of course

Brown mold....(DM: you enter a room thick with mud...its
cold.....very cold....Sigh?)

Wow! Ok I have to be very honest. I'm not usually a fan of very realistic looking maps. Stylistically there is a part of me that prefers the slightly graphic-novel-style art from the original DJ artpacks. Just a personal preference. However, the entrance map has me. I'm floored - great map. Incredibly versatile. In fact I may use it in my own game. You've definitely mastered realism and these are a great set of maps.

Wow, this dungeon is really awesome. In the first three seconds looking at it, I had like 5 good ideas what to put in it. If you can post high-res versions somewhere I would be really thankful.
